I spent several days researching a CyberPower gaming PC and comparing to other PCs. I finally ordered one of their gaming PCs online. After I hit the "Submit" button and confirmed on the chicken page, I received an email stating that my purchase had been accepted. A few hours later, I received an email stating they needed a photocopy of my driver's license (both sides) and a photocopy of my credit card (both sides) faxed to them to confirm my purchase. I refused to send them my identity and financial documents over an unsecured analog line. I also said that I was uncomfortable with what would happen to the "paper" when it arrived on their fax machine. I asked repeatedly to speak with a supervisor, and was told that I was speaking with the account manager. I offered to call my credit card provider and authorize the charge. Again, I was told it was company policy that I needed to fax the photocopies of my DL and CC. After 2 days of e-mails back and forth, asking to speak with a supervisor and denied, I cancelled my order. I ended up purchasing an Alienware, for a whole lot more money. But my ID and CC are secure. |
